About Rona Mark
Rona Mark was born and raised in Newark, New Jersey.  She graduated from high school as Valedictorian and continued as a Dean’s List
student at Kean University, also in New Jersey, where she earned her BS Degree as an English Teacher.  She taught for several years in New
Jersey, and then in Michigan, at which time she took a hiatus to raise her two daughters.

After the next move with her husband to St. Louis, she made a career change upon returning to the workforce and chose to become part of the
business & corporate world.  She established herself as a competent and dedicated worker, and was quickly promoted to Key Account and
then District Sales Manager for Warner Lambert Company, where she remained for 8 years.

She became a Licensed Securities Broker and established her own small business, but did not find the level of satisfaction she had desired.
She left the industry after 3 years and took her first trip abroad that lasted 3 months.  She dreamed that she wanted to one day live in
Switzerland, and made that her eventual goal.
Upon her return to the States, Rona reestablished her Management career in the Pharmaceutical sector as a successful District and Division
Manager.  She hired, trained and coached Pharmaceutical Representatives who “detailed” many drugs and treatments to Physicians in various
specialties.  Over a six year period she worked for Bayer Pharmaceuticals and Johnson & Johnson.

Finally, in 2002, her opportunity to move to Switzerland arrived, and Rona returned to her teaching roots, while also using her talents as a
songstress to appear at occasional venues.  Her love of old lyrical and American and French standards was greeted warmly by her audience,
who often commented how well she verbalized and expressed herself.

She specialized now in teaching ESL (English as a Second Language) to adults who were non native born Americans and living in Switzerland.
She also took extended trips throughout Europe and after five years of living abroad, she travelled to Israel in September of 2006.  In November
of 2009, she made Aliyah and became an Israeli citizen in addition to remaining a proud USA citizen.
Rona met many non native born Americans during her travels abroad who had learned English but yet could not speak the language well
enough to be clearly understood.  Many of these people expressed their frustrations that they had studied English with non native born
American teachers, and that the pronunciation rules were never really clear, and thus, they learned what they heard.  Rona finally saw a real
need for teaching proper pronunciation, when upon her frequent return trips to the USA she met so many immigrants that were well educated
but, unfortunately,  had problems being understood by their new American peers.  She saw this was really a drawback to their advancement
and being part of the new global world, which is basically an “American” English speaking business world.

The Accent Maven pursued studies with several instructors in the USA and Canada who were already teaching Accent Reduction to both
actors and immigrants.  She also read voraciously about Accent Reduction and how Americans and other cultures form their sounds.  She
watched “Baby Babble” with her grandson, just learning his first words, and even this program had some interesting techniques that she could
utilize.  Rona learned about the necessity of knowing the right tongue, lip, mouth and jaw positions. She studied linking and clumping and
rhythms and stress.  She put together a comprehensive but simple program, something that is easy and fun to learn, and over the past 3 years
with her ongoing students’ reactions, she has continued to update the program to insure the best results possible.
Rona has found her niche teaching Accent Reduction and Effective Speech techniques to non native born Americans, both abroad and in the
USA.  Accent Reduction starts where ESL leaves off.  She currently lives half a year abroad in Israel, and the other half in Florida, and travels
occasionally within Europe to assist business clients at their locations.  She has experience as a professional teacher and as a business
executive who has worked for Fortune 500 companies.  She teaches privately and in group settings, and is very flexible with her customers’
needs.
Rona also teaches private classes to students via Web Cam (Skype).  This works well for out of town students and those wanting a shorter
class (one hour) on a weekly basis (generally six to 10 week sessions).

The Accent Maven has developed a strong reputation as a teacher who makes students feel very comfortable and confident in the learning
process.
Please contact Rona for specifics on how she can assist you with Accent Reduction, and help Change Your Life.
